Club will be playing in Division 2 professional league in the heart of Miami
MIAMI – The Miami FC today confirms that it will be playing in the 2020 USL Championship (Division 2), having acquired the franchise rights of Ottawa Fury FC. The club will play all home matches at the 20,000 capacity Riccardo Silva Stadium in Miami, Florida, commencing March 2020.
The Miami FC has been highly successful in recent years, winning 9 trophies and establishing itself at the heart of the Miami soccer community. Having recently launched The Miami FC Youth Soccer Academy this past year, the club remains committed to growing the game at both the professional and youth levels in Miami.
“We could not be more excited to join the USL Championship in 2020, playing regular professional soccer in the heart of Miami at Riccardo Silva Stadium,” said The Miami FC President and General Manager Paul Dalglish.
“The decision to join USL gives us two key things. First, it gives us a stable platform to further expand our academy program and community work, meaning accessible, inclusive and fun family events that bring all of Miami’s soccer communities together.
“Second, it means we’ll be playing 17 home games at Riccardo Silva Stadium in Miami, providing a fantastic experience for the army of loyal fans that have stood by us. We can’t wait to get started and begin the campaign to our add to our trophy haul.”
