Miami, Fla. (January 9, 2023) – The Miami Football Club officially announced its full home and away 2023 USL Championship Schedule on Monday in conjunction with the league.
The Aqua and Orange open its 2023 season at home against FC Tulsa on Saturday, March 11 at FIU Stadium in Miami. While 2022 saw a Tulsa squad pull off the win in their last visit to the 305, it was Miami FC who claimed the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference qualifying for its second straight postseason. FC Tulsa finished 2022 with the 8th seed eliminating the club from the 2022 USL Championship Playoffs presented by Hisense.
Miami will then welcome New Mexico United the following weekend to FIU Stadium on March 18 as United hope to avenge their 2022 home loss which saw Miami FC pull off a resounding three goal victory in Albuquerque.
Kickoff times and broadcast assignments will be set in the coming weeks.
This year’s balanced competitive structure – 24 clubs split evenly into the East and West – results in every team in the league squaring off for the first time since the USL Championship instituted a two-conference format in 2015.
Both conference’s top-eight finishers will qualify for the 2023 USL Championship Playoffs. The postseason will remain a single-elimination format and return to a fixed bracket, culminating in the 2023 USL Championship Final on a date to be determined between Nov. 9 and Nov. 13.
In addition to New Mexico United, Western Conference clubs visiting in 2023 will feature Las Vegas Lights (4.23), San Diego Loyal (5.20), Orange County SC (5.27), Phoenix Rising FC (7.08) and El Paso (8.05).
Miami FC’s 2023 Home Schedule will feature 17 dates with 14 of the 17 matches held on Saturdays, one match on Sunday (4.23) and two on Wednesdays. The club will not have to wait long to try and avenge its 2022 playoff loss against the in-state rival Tampa Bay Rowdies as Miami will visit Al Lang Stadium on 4.08. The Rowdies in turn will visit Miami on 8.26 as part of the rivals’ home and away series.
The 2023 schedule also features a U.S International legend visiting Miami as U.S Soccer Hall of Famer Tab Ramos enters his first season leading Hartford Athletic who will play a home and away series against Miami FC. Ramos and Hartford Athletic will visit Miami for Miami FC’s regular season home finale on September 30.
