Miami, FL. (May 28th, 2023)
Yesterday Miami FC took on Orange County SC at the FIU Stadium in a meaningful matchup for both sides. The game began in a back and forth fashion, with both teams combining passes in the midfield and challenging the opposing teams backline. The first half was incredibly physical, forcing the referee to issue five yellow cards and send the teams into the tunnel scoreless without any shots on goal.
The second half began with both teams eagerly hunting for the first goal. Miami FC brought on Christian Sorto to stabilize their attack, but the Orange County defended firmly the entire game. Miami FC’s backline held their composure defensively, and the match ended 0-0 with both squads content on taking a point from their performance.
“I think it was a positive step forward tonight. I think the clean sheet first and foremost is great, it stops the bleeding,” said Coach Anthony Pulis. Miami FC will look to continue their solid defensive form into their next matchup on the road against Memphis.
The match will be one to remember for Miami FC midfielder Gabriel Cabral, who made his debut for the club in the 75th minute. “It feels great,” said Cabral when asked about how it felt to make his first appearance, “it was three long months and a lot of work to get here.” Miami FC will look to prepare for their upcoming matchup with Memphis 901 FC using their defensive display against Orange County as motivation for the upcoming week.
